It's The Thought That Counts

I asked my 5 year old nephew what his favorite gift was that he received from Santa.  He replied, "I don't know?"  Was it because all his gifts were his favorite, or maybe the fact that the video camera was rolling and he had stage fright.
Then a big smile came over his face and he blurted out, "new pajamas!"  All his cousins sitting at the "kid's dinner table" started to laugh at his answer.  Most kids his age would blurt out Lego's, a random Wii game, Stinky the Garbage Truck, a Pillow Pet, or a baseball mitt.  But this kid said "new pajamas!"
Why, because with 4 other brothers, he had been stuck with "hand-me-downs" and was sick and tired of the "footsie" pajamas he had been stuck wearing.  Try fitting into those "footsie" PJ's that are three "footsie" sizes too small.
Sometimes the best gifts we give to others are the intangible ones, but I don't expect a 5 year old to say, "my favorite gift this year was being able to give to others."
Now that Christmas and Hanukkah have come and gone, what is your favorite gift, tangible or not?

  2. My favorite gift is to come in 2011. It will be when Dave Wayman is led out the front door of Headquarters in handcuffs by members of the Attorney Generals Office, Santa may be a little behind schedule but the greatest gifts are worth the extended wait...........MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL HO HO HO
