Westfield Hangover 5K Run Cancelled

The 2011 Hangover 5K Run scheduled for this morning in Tamaques Park was cancelled due to treacherous conditions caused by last weekend's snowstorm.  The snow covered streets in and around Tamaques Park caused officials to cancel the race for safety reasons.

Maybe next year a "backup plan" could include snowshoe races.

  1. Let's be honest here, the race was canceled because the town did such a bad job clearing the roads. They didn't even attempt public paths like the park or path off Normandy to Tamaquas. Our Gov. says we need to make the mayors accountable. Is anyone else going to complain?

  2. Let us recall the mayor. I voted for Brennan, I bet he wouldn't have tolerated this garbage.

  3. Some of the town council members are bummed out about the race being canceled. Don't Ciarocca and Foerst run in these races for some "face time" photo shots that show up in the newspapers?

  4. Not too long ago, the town would clean the snow off of Mindowaskin and Tamaques ponds for ice skating, maintain a warming fire, and the fire dept would even resurface the ice. Nowadays, we can't even get our streets cleared of snow.

  5. I ran in Cranford today and the park was clear of snow. The side streets were good too. I hope they don't end up in the sad state we're in!
