WPD Internal Affairs Investigation Ongoing

The Fact of The Matter has learned that the Westfield Police Department's Internal Affairs Bureau continues to investigate the alleged misconduct of Westfield Police Captain David Wayman.  Captain Wayman's official I.A. interview is scheduled for today, Monday March 7, 2011.
The interview stems from the investigation of a complaint filed by another police officer, against the department's third highest ranking officer.

Wayman, a 22 year veteran of the Westfield Police Department, is no stranger to controversy surrounding his conduct.  While attending the Union County Police Academy as a police recruit, Wayman was involved in an incident where his police department issued firearm was stolen.  Intimate details of the incident are unknown but what is known is that Wayman allegedly parked his vehicle outside a Rt. 22 "Adult Entertainment" bar with the weapon locked in his vehicle.  His vehicle was subsequently stolen and it was later determined that the weapon was allegedly used in the commission of a crime.  The Westfield Police Department has required police recruits to pick up their weapon at police headquarters on their way to the police academy firing range and then drop it off immediately after, on their way home from training.

Captain Wayman was also the target of a complaint filed in 2004 by a subordinate officer that accused Wayman, then a patrol lieutenant, of harassment and simple assault.  The complaint was later dropped after an alleged agreement that included Wayman no longer being the subordinate officer's direct supervisor.

In another matter Wayman, a certified Union County Police Academy instructor, was allegedly accused by an academy recruit of harassment and is no longer an instructor.  An agreement was allegedly brokered where Wayman would not return to the academy as an instructor of police recruits.

Wayman, a longtime friend of former Westfield Police Chief Bernard Tracy who retired under a cloud of alleged corruption, was eventually promoted to Captain by Tracy's successor John Parizeau.

  1. Just a reminder Dave. When you are being questioned during your interview, try not to look up at the ceiling for your answers. The truth can't be found in the ceiling tiles in Captain Auchter's office, it has to come from within. That is where you will probably run into a problem Dave, telling the truth.

  3. Quotes from one of the Captain's favorite authors. If only his reading comprehension was better.

All men can see these tactics whereby I conquer, but what none can see is the strategy out of which victory is evolved.

It is essential to seek out enemy agents who have come to conduct espionage against you and to bribe them to serve you. Give them instructions and care for them. Thus doubled agents are recruited and used.

  4. If your going to quote the Captain's favorite author then you better grab something out of Green Eggs and Ham or The Cat in the Hat!

  5. You expect me to believe Davy can read and comprehend (understand) such writings. I don't think so.

  8. El policia Wayman es muy mal! The bully with a badge no longer has Barney Tracy to cover up his misconduct like the time he slammed the hispanic guy onto the hood of a police car, rifled the guys pockets for money in front of the Jolley Trolley.
