Where's Wayman? Westfield Police Chief a "No-Show"

Capt. Rodger & Lt. Ricerca
escort parade
Past Westfield police chiefs have marched alongside community leaders down E. Broad St in celebration of Martin L. King on the third Monday of the month of January.   The show of support and the display of unity, bringing a community together in historic remembrance has included Westfield's police chief. Not so today. Wayman, in the first year of his tenure as police chief was a "no-show."  Why?

  1. Just goes to show what he thinks of the town and its citizens.....

  2. He is probably on his way to a security job at an autograph convention in Virginia on his way to a parade in Mississippi.

  6. Wayman had an opportunity to dispell rumors he is a racist by hiring an African American as a cop that was in parking enforcement. Instead, he hired the son of a coworker of ex chief Tracy's wife. The parking enforcement officer was subsequently hired by Garwood.

    1. When I read your post on how Wayman used favoritism as a way of hiring I had to do some research on the topic and a couple of questions come to mind....first when Dave said the testing procedure was "Eight to 10 weeks of study are required before written and oral exams are administered. Wayman said all this places a good deal of stress on both officers and their families who have sacrificed and supported the officers throughout the process." (Westfield Patch Article)....how would he know....he either had the answers courtesy of his mentor Barney Tracey, or he cheated off whomever was sitting next to him...next in the same article Wayman goes to say "the noblest profession" is police work....once again how would he know from the beginning of his career he bend the rules profiled whom he would stop and often violate the civil rights of those he encountered....and finally this quote is very disturbing.."It feels good," said Sgt. John Tango, who added that his accomplishment comes from hard work and the support of his family and Chief Wayman. How is it only Sgt Tango is quoted in the article, is it because they do not harbor the same gusto for Wayman, and realize there will be time when opinions will differ and they will have to take a stand and face the wrath of Wayman??????? Or is it that Sgt. Tango is just following in the footsteps of his hero Chief Wayman. Only time will tell.......stay tuned for more of the saga

    3. John Tango should have been fired after he was arrested and handcuffed by the NJ State Police. A phone call got him "un-arrested" and he later became a sergeant solely on his allegiance to Wayman and by taking a study course both he and Costanzo were directed to that provided them answers. The two of them are nothing more than pocket lint from Wayman's trousers.

  9. In yesterday's Westfield Leader, a photo of The annual MLK,Jr. March is on the cover. Toward the back of the photo; is that a Policeman's hat that is visible?

    1. The hat you see is worn by either Captain Scott Rodger or Lieutenant John Ricerca. TFoTM has it's own photos as proof. Thank you for your post but do get your facts straight

    2. You can obviously rule out Ricerca; you're able to SEE the hat in the photo.

  11. I am sure that Dave has a good reason for not being there....what it is I have no idea....perhaps he can look to the ceiling for an answer.....
