At tonight's Westfield Board of Education meeting held at Westfield High School, members of the school board voted 7 to 2 in favor of reinstating the SRO position. After public comment on the budget item, board members made comments in favor of, and against, the reinstatemen of the SRO position. The $100,00 price tag will be shared equally by both the school budget and municipal budget, ultimately paid for by the Westfield taxpayer.
Board member Mitch Slater had made a motion to table the issue so that more discussion on the issue could take place before a final vote was taken. The motion was defeated.
