Westfield Mayor Updates Residents Regarding “One Seat Ride” to NYC

(PART 1 of 2) Today, the 23 Mayors that comprise the Raritan Valley Line Mayors Coalition sent a letter to Governor Phil Murphy, Department of Transportation Commissioner Diane Guiterrez-Scaccetti, NJT Executive Director Kevin Corbett, and the Legislators representing the RVL municipalities insisting they act to equitably allocate one-seat peak rides, in addition to other essential improvements to service.

As bad as the commute is across the entire transit system, #RVLcommuters have been disproportionately impacted.

Take a look at the chart below to see how unfair it is that we have ZERO peak one-seat rides. For context, the North Coast Line has *24* peak one-seat rides in & out of NYC, and has less weekly ridership than us. Ours is also likely underrepresented due to the many commuters that travel to other stations such as Linden and MetroPark to catch a direct train.

We are scheduling meetings with legislators in September and we will be asking for a public show of support. Details to come. Share this post with your #westfieldnj neighbors. #campaignpromise #oneseatride #RVL
