The Westfield men and women in blue are displaying a Blue Devil decal on their police vehicles after Acting Chief of Police Christopher Battiloro recently struck a friendly bargain with Sandra Mamary, supervisor of athletics at Westfield High School.
“I’ve known Sandy since her earliest days as Westfield High School’s first athletic trainer,” Battiloro says. “I told her that if WHS won a third consecutive football state championship, I would put a commemorative logo on all of the Westfield Police Department’s vehicles to recognize that very significant accomplishment.”
The football team won its 3rd championship last fall, finishing the season with a 37-0 winning streak. And this fall, as promised, more than 20 police vehicles now sport the Blue Devil decal in grayscale to match existing graphics. On the department’s breast cancer awareness vehicle, the decal appears in pink.
“This is an example of the school district as a priority in the community,” Mamary says. “We all work together with the same goals as we support our ‘Tradition of Excellence.’”
“I want to thank Chief Battiloro and Ms. Mamary for this inspiring initiative,” adds Superintendent of Schools Margaret Dolan. “The Blue Devil decal on the rear windshields of police vehicles will serve as a reminder of the important partnership between our school district, our police department, and our town.”
Battiloro says the Blue Devil decal also will serve to recognize all of Westfield High School’s athletic teams and student athletes.
“We have one of the best athletic programs in New Jersey high school sports and I wanted the logo to be inclusive of all sports teams and athletes at the high school,” he says. “I want it to be known that the Westfield Police Department supports our student athletes and recognizes their accomplishments, both on and off the field.”

Every corrupt police chief has a sidekick that has his own misconduct covered up.
Who paid for these decals and how much were they?
ReplyDeleteReally ?, The new Acting Chief does something positive and you want to know how much 20 or 30 sticker/decals costs. SMH. If you really want to know go file an OPRA request. They probably cost minimal whoever paid for them.
DeleteThey are just stickers on already dirty police cars that are driven by a dirty Westfield policemen.
