Westfield Police Chief Selection Process Underway

The Town of Westfield is in the process of selecting its next police chief to fill the void left by disgraced police Chief David Wayman who resigned on August 1st amid an ongoing Union County Prosecutor’s office investigation into corruption and misconduct exposed by The Fact of The Matter.
Wayman’s alleged coverup of his own hit and run accident was the precursor to a wider investigation that ensued and ensnared other Westfield police officers.
Left in Wayman’s wake of lies and deceit is a police department trying to emerge from a shadow of dishonest leadership fostered by the office of the chief of police over the past 15 years beginning with Bernard Tracy and John Parizeau.

Candidates for Westfield Police Chief, from top to bottom:  Captain Christopher Battiloro (Acting Police Chief), Lieutenant Frank Padovano, Lieutenant Jason McErlean, Lieutenant Jason Carter

    1. My thoughts are, it is Chris Battiloro‘s to lose. Frank Padovano is a close second with Jason Carter rounding out the top three. Carter needs more experience in his position as Detective Lieutenant. Both Carter and Padovano will do a fine job as captain when that spot opens up should Battiloro be appointed police chief. I do not consider Jason McErlean a worthy candidate due to his involvement in Wayman’s hit-and-run. It was McErlean’s initials on one of the police reports submitted in the cover up.

  5. When will Wayman be indicted for possession of stolen property?
What’s the Union County Prosecutor waiting for?

    1. Not only Wayman but what about Lugo and Tango? They are the new 'downers' in the department. And what about Carrero? With his IA about falsified warrants?

    2. Which Tango, John or Nicole? Wasn’t Nicole in charge of the property room when Wayman went on his crime spree stealing property? How did she account for missing inventory? Did she falsify records?
