Westfield Town Attorney Refutes Town Administrator and His Denial of “Wrongdoing”.......see Video

At Tuesday evening’s town council meeting, Westfield Town Attorney Tom Jardim responded to allegations of impropriety and wrongdoing regarding Westfield Department of Public Works employees signing co-workers in and out of work that were not present when their employee numbers were entered into the building’s time clock.

Jardim was tasked with giving the response after Westfield Town Administrator Jim Gildea emphatically stated, two weeks ago, that there was no “wrongdoing.”

Gildea was responding to allegations he said were not based in fact regarding the alleged misconduct of DPW workers brought to the attention of town officials.

Below, is a video of the allegation of abuse by DPW workers followed by Jim Gildea’s denial, followed by Tom Jardim’s acknowledgment that, IN FACT, the  “wrongdoing” took place after all.

  2. Gildea needs to be held accountable. If this town was run like a company he would be fired. Quite frankly, he should be replaced.

    1. Meteoric rise from Memorial pool lifeguard to town administrator. What did you expect.
I wouldn’t trust him as far as I can throw him.

  3. Westfield Jim Gildea has lost the respect of many town employees. He has continued to turn a blind eye towards corruption to guarantee employment self preservation.
He routinely ignores allegations of wrongdoing, misconduct, and corruption.
His conduct undermines the current administration’s attempt to distance itself from past administrations where wasteful spending, coverups, mismanagement, and the lack of transparency prevailed.

  4. The DPW employee who filed the grievance if he/she REALLY wants the TRUTH to come out they need to contact the Courier News, Star Ledger and other News outlets like Channel 2,4 7 and 11 to tell their story. You want to see action, you would see action IMMEDIATELY. Why in this day and age people are NOT just speaking publicly i do not understand. You are not going to lose your job you have a Union contract by which to stand behind and protect you. These Supervisors and Department Heads and your own Union Rep's who were involved need to be held accountable, they were not just STEALING from the Town and the Tax payers but they were Stealing from YOU the employee who has filed the Grievance and the other DPW employee's who may/should have gotten that Overtime. This is what UNIONS were developed for, "to protect the workers" if wrong doing's were happening. It is very clear from reading all of the comments that not ONLY the DPW employee who filed the grievance knows what was going on but so do MANY other DPW employee's, you ALL need to stand UNITED and SPEAK UP!!!

  6. Anyone accepting Gildea’s explanation of no wrongdoing after the town attorney admitted there was, I got some stock in Iranian real estate for you to buy. It’s real cheap.
