Mayor Skibitsky has stated on numerous occasions that there are many people that support the new location of the pedestrian signal at the cul-de-sac'd intersection of Central Ave. & Cambridge Rd. TFoTM supports the installation of a pedestrian light but questions the transparency of the process that ultimately moved the light from it's original proposed location of Central Ave. & Clover St. to it's current mid-block location. The Fact of The Matter has yet to identify anyone that supports this new location except for the Mayor's fellow council members. There are some council members beginning to question the placement of the light at it's current location as opposed to it's original proposed location. UPDATE: TFoTM has identified at least one other person that supported the new location of the pedestrian light. Councilman Mark Ciarrocca has leaned heavily on the Town Council formed Citizen's Traffic Safety Advisory Committee's findings to defend the current location of the pedestrian light. One person from the neighborhood of Central & Clover was appointed to that committee. TFoTM has attempted to find out whether or not any of the (6) citizen's chosen for this committee are "experts" in traffic safety engineering. Up to this point in time, the town has not produced any evidence that any of the committee members were "experts" in the field of traffic safety engineering. The Westfield Police Department's experts in traffic safety were excluded from the process to determine the location of the pedestrian signal. WHY WERE THEY EXCLUDED? The Mayor and Town Council members have avoided answering this question on numerous occasions. Might they have suggested locating the pedestrian signal at the intersection of Central & Clover? Just a thought Mayor.......... Go to the Westfield Patch at http://westfield.patch.com/articles/stop-light-battle-escalates for complete coverage of Tuesday night's Town Council meeting. |

The Haircut
ReplyDeleteOne day a florist went to a barber for a haircut. After the cut, he asked
about his bill, and the barber replied, 'I cannot accept money from you, I'm
doing community service this week.' The florist was pleased and left the
shop. When the barber went to open his shop the next morning, there was a
'thank you' card and a dozen roses waiting for him at his door.
Later, a cop comes in for a haircut, and when he tries to pay his bill, the
barber again replied, 'I cannot accept money from you , I'm doing community
service this week.' The cop was happy and left the shop. The next morning
when the barber went to open up, there was a 'thank you' card and a dozen
donuts waiting for him at his door.
Then a Congressman came in for a haircut, and when he went to pay his bill,
the barber again replied, 'I can not accept money from you. I'm doing
community service this week.' The Congressman was very happy and left the
shop. The next morning, when the barber went to open up, there were a dozen
Congressmen lined up waiting for a free haircut.
And that, my friends, illustrates the fundamental difference between the
citizens of our country and the politicians who run it.
BOTH POLITICIANS AND DIAPERS NEED TO BE CHANGED OFTEN AND FOR THE SAME REASON!
