The Cake Boss & The Fake Boss

Mayor Skibitsky takes advantage of a photo-op whenever a new store opens in town.  Ribbon cutting ceremonies are at the top of Skibitsky's list of mayoral duties.

Today's grand opening on E. Broad St featured Skibitsky mugging for the camera with Cake Boss Buddy Valastro.
In fact, Skibitsky can be seen in other "grand opening" photos posted here at TFoTM wearing the same outfit.....beige khaki pants with his signature pink shirt and blue blazer leading TFoTM to ask, is the Cake Boss posing with the real Skibitsky or a cardboard cutout of the "Fake" Boss of Westfield?

  2. I don't have an issue with the Mayor participating in these ribbon cutting ceremonies and I actually think it's kind of nice. Sure, it is a photo opportunity but it's also a nice way of welcoming a new business to town and wishing them luck. It presents that "small town" feel that we don't always get on a daily basis. And for that, I commend him. I do, however, have issues with the way he speaks very rudely to those citizens who dare to disagree with him on any topic- another issue entirely! But, for the ribbon cutting ceremonies, I give him a thumbs up.

  4. I have an issue with those who speak to the mayor disrespectfully first, then cry foul when he responds back in a way they find offensive.

  6. If you're the Mayor or the dogcatcher, you treat people with respect. Just because you're an elected official gives you no right to treat others disrespectfully.

  7. I agree with Anonymous Fri Sep 6. In the case of those two women from Central Avenue, it would be different if they continued attending meetings speaking against the mayor if accidents had gone down after he changed the traffic light and markings but what happened is the number of accidents shot up dramatically, pointing out that those two women are so right and the mayor is so wrong. The accident reports speak for themselves. For that reason, the mayor has clearly been the disrespectful party in those meetings- not the two women from Central Avenue. I agree that their tone may sometimes be a bit much but the traffic statistics clearly show they are right and the mayor is wrong and disrespectful/rude.

  8. This Mayor is the worst in my multiple decades of Westfield residency His regular attendance (and self promotion) showing up at Store openings for photo Ops, is directly opposed to his non involvement and failure to attend, show up, or even follow up with those individuals that he appoints to attend various Town Boards and Commission meetings (sent often in his place), which are his Mayoral responsibility to be involved in under the Town Code. Skibitsky's mayoral process is first response of "discussion will not take place, on this issue," his operating philosophy. Then when an erroneous decision is made, circle the wagons, let our town attorneys handle the lawsuit. This "wisdom" holds our community in a stagnant, rotting, falling backward trajectory. Just check our various sinking ratings & standings Statewide, and our fall in national ratings as a community. He is like "Nero" the Roman emperor, fiddling, sitting on the wall while the city burns, and other communities pass us by. A third Term ????? Oh No !!!
