Ever wonder why the Town does not clean up the leaves left behind after the large piles of leaves piled at the curb are picked up by the large front end loaders and tandem trailers?
The Westfield DPW pushes the leaf piles down the street into one large pile to be loaded into trailers and hauled down to the conservation center.
What’s left behind is the leaf debris that doesn’t make it into the trailers and eventually gets washed into the storm sewer system during rain storms.
In the past, a street sweeper would follow up and clean the remaining leaf debris from the curb line.
Slow "News not found in the news" cycle huh?
ReplyDeleteNah, just a response to an email received by TFoTM regarding the lack of a street sweeper following up after leaf removal.
DeleteInvestigative reporting at its finest.
ReplyDeleteWith all these sexual misconduct allegations going on... you might be moving on up
Now, if we can get the town government to make it illegal to park on the street if you have a driveway during leaf pick up. My neighbor drives me crazy by parking his car in from of my house and then running over the pile of leaves I piled neatly by the curb. Meanwhile, his car (he owns 4) is not parked in front of his house. We have had the town go by and not pick up leaves because his car was parked overlapping the leaves in front of my house.
ReplyDeleteThe leaves left in the street after clearing should be reported as news. The streets are a mess after the leaves are pushed into a large pile to be put into a truck. I cleaned and disposed of leaves in the street around my house only to have it look worse after the city cleared. What happened to using the Street Cleaner after clearing?
ReplyDeleteIt falls under Mayor Skibitsky’s slogan of “Doing More with Less!”
DeletePerhaps the lame duck Mayor figures the DPW could kill two birds with one stone and plow the snow covered streets while pushing leaves all at the same time.
Regardless, Uncle Andy must think the snow will hide the mess.
Don’t let the Town-Hall door hit you on the way out, Andy.
