2nd List of Westfield DPW Employees Allegedly Stealing Overtime

The Fact of The Matter has obtained an additional list of Westfield DPW workers names and time clock ID numbers involved in what has been described as a routine scam into alleged theft of overtime.
TFoTM previously reported on the alleged theft and included a picture of a list of employees involved in the scam.  (See previous blog story.). That list of names appears on the same stationary for an auto glass company.
The alleged scam would be perpetrated by one DPW employee coming into work early or leaving work late.  The employee would enter the ID numbers on the list, into the digital timeclock at the DPW, clocking other employees into or out of work that were not actually present at that time.
This alleged overtime scam bilked thousands of dollars in O.T. which ultimately cost taxpayers.
The additional photo obtained by TFoTM has been redacted to remove employee names.

Westfield town officials were made aware of the alleged thefts months ago.

  1. Is Driver 2 involved in this? Did Leo Lugo write the report to coverup the crime? Leo is good at writing phony reports to coverup criminal acts.

  2. These guys need to be charged and terminated if this is true and the DPW superintendent needs to be replaced.
Why is one person signing multiple employees into work? This doesn’t pass the sniff test one bit at all.

  3. Nobody cares about these guys they don’t make a dent in my taxes for what they do. Leave them alone.

    1. While nobody might not care about these guys that don’t make a dent in your taxes for what they do, there are those that do not condone and will not accept the theft of time which amounts to money.

    2. Leave them alone? You must be one of the criminals.

    1. I can assure you that these are employee ID numbers of town employees on a slip of stationary used by one person to clock others in and/or out of work.

  5. Easy fix, Install cameras in the "break room" where the timeclock is located, second thought why not install cameras all over the DPW and the yard.

    1. Thumb print. That will fix the issue we have here.

    2. You are 100% correct, thumb print will stop this behavior immediately. It will also stop the one person who punches in multiple guys every morning who come to work late every day. Sometimes at least a half hour late. They text him their numbers then he punches them in at 7:00, then they show up 20-30 minutes later. What's even better is it's being done right in front of the director's office. Pathetic.

    3. The SO CALLED director Greg is a spineless do nothing and has been since he took over.... he appointed his PAL Rob Tree Supervisor (because Rob was there the Longest not because he was most qualified) and he also appointed his BALD EAGLE BUDDY Feister Eubanks as a Supervisor.... Then they had to give a Minority (of course) a Supervisor position and here you have 3 incompetent SUPERVISORS!! Yea let's work towards moving forward and showing the Residents how we are going to change things at the DPW..... LOL .... and cry

  7. If these guys are stealing, and nothing’s been done because they are still working for the town, the department head’s head needs to roll.

  9. As a resident of Westfield I pay a nearly unsustainable amount in taxes. The county punishes us with exorbitant fees. And now this??? This is typical behavior for a municipal employee. The attitude is one that believes that they are entitled because they aren't getting paid enough. The town that pays the salary becomes a cash cow. It's truly disgusting that this is condoned. I would fire every last one of these guys.

    1. Privatize the DPW and you would NOT have this issue and you would see people ACTUALLY working when you drive around Town.....They are LAZY do NOTHING group of people who want want want and feel they are entitled.

  10. When the authorities come to ask questions, tell the truth. The truth will set you free.

    1. The "authorities" will never ask questions...cause guess who leads the way in this behavior. Thats right - THE AUTHORITIES!!! Generally speaking this behavior is learned and fostered from one "generation" of employee to the next...much like the nonsense at the WPD. When new employees learn they too can take certain liberties with no repercussions - the next generation of thieves has then been granted membership to the club. And so it goes...

    ReplyDelete
  12. Zod, Absolutely you can have the old plow truck back, the keys are in the evidence room, feel free to go in when you think no one is watching and take them. Also the old plow truck is parked at the Conservation Center, watch out for the Prosecutors car on the way out because the WPD is FINALLY under ethical management with the new Chief.

Attention DPW employees involved in stealing time: hire Dave Wayman’s lawyer, he kept him out of jail. Hire Leo Lugo’s lawyer, he kept his job but got demoted.
Lesson learned, you can steal and fabricate police reports to cover up crimes as a cop and still keep your job.

    1. I keep hearing this Leo Lugo name. Who the hell is this guy?

    2. He’s Leo. Leo Lugo. Demoted Lieutenant Leonard Lugo now Sergeant Lugo. The author of the hit & run report a year ago that covered up Driver 2’s crash.

  15. Both lists of employees accused of stealing overtime include Rob the supervisor. The supervisor knew this was going on and took part in the theft.

  16. Keep working that overtime men you’re going to need it for your lawyer bills when the town terminates you.
Bet you thought you’d get away with it.
When you’re gone, it means more OT for me!

  18. Want to talk about theft, check out the dead trees/shrubs the town planted on Azelea Trail. Waste of money for not watering them.

  19. I wonder if anyone will ask the council tonight about the theft of overtime at the DPW, and a direct supervisor condoning this type of behavior. They should check the amount of overtime this clown Rob gets. He is your typical public worker that doesn't care about the taxpayers. Hahahahaha, paperwork every Saturday on overtime, I guess the 40 hours during the week that he is a total failure isn't enough time to get it done. Please tell me what DPW supervisor actually has that much paperwork that they need to bilk overtime on Saturday's. This guy needs to be fired now, he is a liability to the town. He's already cost them enough money in dead trees.

  20. Ultimately, which department or town employee is responsible for an unbiased investigation into this allegation? I believe it is serious enough to warrant that.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Under the Skibitsky administration, the town’s labor attorney would oversee the investigation done by his office to guarantee the desired outcome using pawns like Town Administrator Jim Gildea and the department head of the targeted department.
Under the current Brindle administration, the decision to use an independent investigator might prevent a coverup.

    2. Still do not understand why the people who are doing the stealing are still working at the DPW ???
This Supervisor Rob from the Tree department seems to be the biggest thief and the Head of the DPW Greg seemed to know about what was going on..... Why has NOTHING been done at the Town level by the Mayor or Admin ??

  21. Guys I checked all over I can’t find my plow truck keys! Leo could you check around for me I think there hiding them from me? I will be at Applebee’s until last call just give me a shout I am cool to drive!

  22. Cool to drive after staying at a bar until last call ? Just ask a neighboring retired Chief who also thought he was ok to drive until he veered off the roadway and slammed into a utility pole.
