- Where's Waldo? is a sucessful media franchise created by British illustrator Martin Handford. The series debuted in 1987 with the release of Where's Waldo?. The book introduced readers to Waldo, a distinctively dressed man, as he sets off on "a world-wide hike". The book was soon followed by the release of Where's Waldo Now (1988) and The Great Waldo Search (1989).

Westfield Police Chief John M. Parizeau has been compared to Waldo these days by his own men within the rank and file of the police department. Hard to find, out of touch, hiding? The police chief has reduced his work schedule from Monday thru Friday to four days on with three days off. Nowadays, the chief can be found taking the day off, to work side jobs manning a traffic post at a construction site, most recently, on the cul-de-sac of Karen Terr. A source within the police department has described Chief Parizeau's vacation benefit as "whenever he wants." At a salary of close to $140,000 + health benefits, and what appears to be unlimited "time off," who is running the police department in his absence?
